Ruggero Deodato was a director who would always take things as far as he could, with Cannibal Holocaust it was animal cruelty, graphic depictions of flesh-eating and a camera which glorified showing the human race in their worst form possible whist being set in a land far removed from our own. House on the Edge of the Park is set firmly in the real and grim world of late 70s/early 80s America a country which had lost its direction and its values, all under the glitterball of disco, the only light people seemed to hanker for at the time.
