Lakeshore Records has announced the release of Immaculate - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack with an original score by award-winning composer Will Bates (The Voyeurs, Dumb Money), digitally.
The multifaceted score incorporates strings, choir and traditional instruments to create a uniquely ominous backdrop to the horror thriller.
An American nun embarks on a new journey when she joins a remote convent in the Italian countryside. However, her warm welcome quickly turns into a living nightmare when she discovers her new home harbours a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.
Bates said, “About halfway through the project I acquired a 19th century Square Grand Piano at an estate sale. The piano was formerly owned by General Phineas Banning. It has a very specific sound, nightmarishly un-tunable, its horizontally layered sound boards make it perfect for scraping the strings with one's fingernails, placing resonating e-bows on them, striking them with a mallet. The Square Grand has been through a lot for Immaculate. When I told Michael about the piano, he asked when I had done the bulk of the recording. I told him ‘yesterday,’ which he then explained was the General’s birthday. Spooky.”
Directed by Michael Mohan, the Black Bear produced film starring Sydney Sweeney is released by NEON and in theaters now.
