More from the movie Ladybug and this time we chat to one of its leads, Scout Taylor-Compton.
NYX: Did you know from a young age that you wanted to be an actress?
STC: I had a bunch of energy as a kid and was always acting out things, but all I knew was I enjoyed being on set. I really connect with people’s energy and being on set was my happy place.
NYX: How did you get involved with Ladybug?
STC: I worked with my co-star/producer Anthony on a few other projects and we just clicked. Remember that energy I was talking about? Well when you just mesh with someone it can turn into a long lasting friendship and this did just that.
NYX: Did you base your interpretation of your character, Wendy on anyone you know as she’s very head strong?
STC: I’m very much opposite Wendy, but this business is filled with so many “Wendy’s”! The one who thinks she’s being your friend and putting your needs first, but is it just for her own selfish reasons?
NYX: Was it difficult filming on location?
STC: It’s never hard filming with Stargazer! They really do choose the location that’s perfectly match what the story needs. So if anything the location helped.
NYX: You and Anthony Del Negro have a great on-screen relationship, did you have much time to rehearse?
STC: Anthony is such a fun actor to work off of and I think our closeness in real life definitely helps with the chemistry!
NYX: What’s it like working with legends such as Charlene Tilton and Nancy Stephens?
STC: It’s incredible working with actresses that you’ve watched growing up. They are both so different from one another, but equally give the best advices.
NYX: Which scene was the hardest to get right?
STC: Anything physical is always the hardest to get, because everyone’s timing has to be right. The actors, stunt team, special effects and camera.
NYX: Do you get nervous when your work is shown to the public for the first time?
STC: Always! That will never go away!
NYX: Do you believe in the paranormal?
STC: Yes 1,000%! I grew up in a mortuary my whole life so let’s just say I had a lot of friends.
NYX: Reading your resume you seem to be a workaholic (not a bad thing!) how do you choose projects to work on?
STC: It all comes down to the people! The longer am in this business the more its matters to me to work with good people.
NYX: So, what are you working on at the moment?
STC: I’m taking a STAB at directing and loving it! It directed my first feature starring Mickey Rourke! I also just did a short/Proof of concept and guess what? Anthony was my producer. Good Energy and good people.
NYX: Scout Taylor-Compton, thank you very much.
